Oracle E-Business Suite steps to upgrade from Release 12.2.3 to 12.2.4

Follow the below mentioned steps in sequential order to upgrade from Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 to 12.2.4

A. Pre-Installation Steps

Upgrade StartCD version from current 12.2.0.47 to 12.2.0.48. To do this apply this apply the following database patches using Opatch Utility.

1. Patches for StartCD 12.2.0.48

  • 17600719
  • 17693770 - This database patch is required to support the latest AD and TXK release update packs, as described in My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 1617461.1, Applying the Latest AD and TXK Release Update Packs to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2. If Patch 17502060 was installed, you should roll it back before installing Patch 17693770 from My Oracle Support. 
  • 18116376.
  • 18259911 - this patch is no longer available. Instead download Patch 19078951. 19078951 - If Patch 18259911 or Patch 17461865 was installed, you should roll it back before installing Patch 19078951 from My Oracle Support.

2. Patches Not included in any startCD

  • 18419770
  • 18614015
  • 18685209

3. Apply the R12.AD.C.Delta.5 and R12.TXK.C.Delta.5 Release Update Packs. This includes following patches:

  • Patch 18283295
  • Patch 18288881
  • 18886213
  • 18942757
  • 19259764

B. Installation

1. Download Release 12.2.4 Patches

  • Patch 17919161: ORACLE E-BUSINESS SUITE 12.2.4 RELEASE UPDATE PACK
  • Patch 17919162: Oracle E-Business Suite Online Help for 12.2.4 Release Update Pack
  • Patch 19290141: HELP PATCH FOR ORACLE GRANTS ACCOUNTING USER GUIDE, RELEASE 12.2.4

2. Unzip Patches

3. Source the run edition applications environment

4. Start an online patching cycle

$ adop phase=prepare

5. Apply Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Patch

adop phase=apply patches=17919161

6. Complete the online patching cycle

$ adop phase=finalize $ adop phase=cutover $ . <INSTALL_BASE>/EBSapps.env run $ adop phase=cleanup

7. Synchronize file systems

$ adop phase=fs_clone

C. Post Installation

1. Apply Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Online Help

$ adop phase=apply patches=17919162,19290141 hotpatch=yes merge=yes

2. Grant flexfield value set access to specific users

Release 12.2 includes a new security feature, flexfield value set security; it controls who can create or modify flexfield values in the Flexfield Values Setup window (FNDFFMSV). Flexfield value set security requires some mandatory setup steps before any users can create or update values in the Values window. You must perform this step if you have not already done so for a previous version of Release 12.2.

3. Register new products - optional

The new products below (added in Release 12.2.4) are not automatically registered in your system. If you intend to use new products, register them using License Manager. 

  • Oracle Yard Management (short name = yms)
  • Oracle In-memory Cost Management (short name = cmi)

4. Perform Product-Specific Steps – optional

  • Application Technology tasks
  • Customer Relationship Management tasks
  • Financials tasks
  • Human Resources tasks
  • Procurement tasks
  • Supply Chain Management tasks
  • Value Chain Planning tasks
